SHERIDAN — It was a hot time at the old ball yard Saturday as four vintage clubs met in 90-degree heat to play ball in a fundraising effort for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

SOMONAUK — In the second of three games in eight days, the Somonauk Blue Stockings were invited to help Newark celebrate its 175th birthday. The first known mention of the Blues was in a local newspaper article on Aug. 5, 1876 describing a game against the Newark nine. The Blues were victorious 16-4, and many ladies were in attendance cheering the many fine fielding plays that were made.
