PLANO – For the first time since the Interstate Eight Conference converted to the small and large division format, Plano High School will move up as one of the top six larger football programs in the league.

SANDWICH — After making the Class 4A playoffs in 2008, the Sandwich High School varsity football team believed 2009 would see another post-season berth with a relatively strong squad.

BIG BEND, Wis. — On an absolutely beautiful weekend, the Somonauk Blue Stockings traveled to Big Bend, Wis., southwest of Milwaukee to participate in one of the finest vintage base ball festivals in the Midwest, Aug. 21 and 22. The Blues were missing about half of the team due to work, emergency situations and members returning to college. In addition to the Blues, teams participating were the Douglas, Michigan Dutchers, the Indianapolis, Indiana Hoosiers, the Chicago Salmon and the host Milwaukee Cream Cities.

SOMONAUK — The busy ball-playing month of August is off to a great start for the Somonauk Blue Stockings. On Aug. 8, the Lockport Sleepers arrived at Somonauk’s Community Park looking to avenge an earlier defeat at the hands of the Blues. While a doubleheader had been scheduled, it was decided to play one nine-inning game in the rain.

SOMONAUK – On a perfect mid-summer afternoon, four vintage base ball teams along with a team of willing rec-league coaches played spirited 1858-rules vintage base ball.
