At the Feb. 11 LaSalle County Board meeting, the future of the Forest Preserve District was discussed. Since the last election, all of the county townships voted themselves out of the forest preserve district.

March is here, so the madness of Springfield fits right in with basketball mania. Despite a widespread conclusion that the state is broke, some legislators are still sponsoring bills to increase spending and create unfunded mandates, while ignoring the mountain of unpaid bills. Even a capitol full of chanting service providers wanting to be paid doesn’t move the legislature to action. I feel like we must be in the old TV show the “Twilight Zone.”
